Literacy Block - At Maitland Lutheran School our Junior Primary classes combine for Literacy during the first two lessons of the day. Students from Reception to Yr 3 work collaboratively in groups across 3 classrooms for Guiding & Shared reading and writing, Genre Writing, Phonics, Punctuation and Grammar.

The idea of this literacy block is to enable students to work closely with children from other classes on areas that require development.

By structuring lessons this way, learning becomes more personal and students are engaged in activities that are best suited for them. All students are focusing on areas that they require further support with, without having to go through activities in which they are already successful.

The Literacy block enables students to have more one on one time with teachers while being engaged in fun and exciting learning experiences to enhance personal development in Literacy.
